Blue Fusion 2007

Blue Fusion 2007 is a competitive activities day run by IBM Hursley for schools in Hampshire. Pupils from thirteen schools attended on the 14th of March when Dr Anderson was the key speaker. He gave a presentation that showed pupils how to divide by zero, consistently, using only arithmetical methods. The presentation was accompanied by one paper and pencil exercise in which pupils proved that their age is less than infinity, and an exercise involving mobile 'phones that demonstrated that computers fail when dividing by zero. At the end of the day, Dr Anderson presented prizes to the day's three winning teams.

Horndean Technology College, shown here, won first prize. Second prize went to Swanmore College of Technology and third prize to Cams Hill School.
